Verisign announced they will be increasing the cost for registering .com domains. Due to the price increase, the cost to register a domain will increase to $19.75 per year. The price increase takes effect September 1, 2024.
Verisign announced a price increase alongside its 2023 earnings report, which showed a revenue of $1.49 billion for the year. Although the number of domains managed by the company decreased, a 7% price hike implemented in September 2023 contributed to a 4.8% rise in revenue compared to the previous year.
