PURPOSE OF WORK: Capacity Increase / Source Changes
Possible Impact: Some customers may experience a brief period of increased latency, or may experience a brief interruption of service.
Scope of Work:
As a result of our data center continual growth in XB1 facility, it is nearing the completion of a major upgrade and build out which will significantly increase the power capacity for this datacenter.
The power upgrade will require them to replace the line side service on the main distribution panels. This will result in a planned disruption of power to the UPS systems for no more than 60 seconds. As these systems are designed to continue functioning with losses of power far longer than this we do not anticipate power disruptions reaching any of our server or network infrastructure.
Thursday the 6th (01/06/2011) at 10:00 EST the data center will be performing a utility power failure simulation to effectively test the redundancy of the system with load prior to our scheduled maintenance. This test is scheduled to last for a total of 60 minutes. Should any suboptimal behavior within the system be observed it will be corrected prior to the maintenance scheduled on 01/08/2011 or the maintenance will be postponed.
During both of these events service will be run on the generators. During the 01/08/2011 event a second standby generator on site to ensure all efforts are made to ensure continued uptime and performance of the datacenter.
We will also be using this time to review all aspects of our network. If any areas are found to be operating outside of our design specifications will be addressing these issues during this maintenance window.
